#backtomine TWO WEEK PLAYLIST SPECIAL
GOOD EVENING
I’m sorry. I haven’t been able to do the playlist at all over the last couple of weeks. So, here I’ll try and describe what we went through over the last 2 weeks.
Cheers
Here is what we played (20 Feb 2012)
- Alice Russell - To know this
- Gold Panda - Back Home
- Erato - Call your girlfriend
- Peter Broderick - Old Time
- Cast of Cabaret - Wilkommen
- Josh Ritter - Best for the best
- Dr J - Backtomine mix
- ELO - Mr Blue Sky
We shouted out student politics. GET INVOLVED.
Dave had been ill, and had been letting people know so, for future reference, if you ask Dave how he is he’ll let you know, if you don’t want to know then ….
‘Just mind your business and don’t speak to me’
Happy Birthday to Ed Sheeran.
An anonymous listener (not brave enough) commented on the Gold Panda song ‘there is no feeling in this song, no emotional connection, no poignancy, no love nothing, just an abyss of nothingness’. We disagree.
International radio again. All the way to Canada.
Happy BIRTH-day to my latest nephew. 19/2/2012. Super-parents.
The Erato song has beautiful harmonies, check it out here.
What was Hip on the 20th? This was. http://www.itstartshear.com/ An album, produced as a website. It is cool as. (he looks a bit like Kenny off of South Park).
Back to Mine mobile phone android app is also hip. Greg Marler made a soundboard for us. It is AMAZING. Available to download soon!!
We did our first major Cabaret shout out. Check out CABARET, Collingwood College THIS WEDNESDAY until Saturday. CHECK IT OUT.
‘I’ve been reading your leader’s book’ - Dave Simpson acting as Clifford Bradshaw.
Me and Dave hosted the Collingwood Arts show, so much talent.
What was not good melon? Our old age and memory loss. Preventing us from remembering what our good ‘wngm’ was. it is difficult.
How about the 27th?
- PJ Harvey - Hanging the wire
- Nils Frahm - Snippet
- Francis and the lights - Tap the phone (solo piano version)
- Lanterns on the lake - Lonely Sail
- Liv and the Lionhardts - Lit the fire
- Gyangs - The Gaudy Side of Town
- Owl City - Fireflies
Check out this ‘Back to Mine’ from Mr Scruff.
Do you have an Android phone. Watch this space for something fun to download.
Our friend Ant Collins (Conlin) was listening with a glass of whisky, probably in a winged back chair with a cigar. We thought that was just right.
Lanterns on the lake are from Newcastle. That’s near us. Dave reckons you can get some free downloads off of Last.fm.
What was hip on the 27th? It was Hiut Denim, from Cardigan in Wales. Making high quality jeans with a passion, dream and design that I love. Check out the website, have a look at the year book, and if you have some (lots of) disposable income, buy a pair. They’re doing one thing well, very well.
Liv from Liv and the Lionhardts recorded us loving their song. Hear that here.
I’m not sure I remember what was not good melon. Sorry. Do you remember?
Gayngs is a collective of 23 musicians including Justin Vernon off of Boniver… it is really cool. Check them out. They played ‘the last prom on earth’ with Prince.
Thanks for reading. Thanks for listening. I’ll get the playlist for the 5th up soon and then next week, the 12th, will be the last show of term.
Sad.
Times.
